Reaction Test in Latvia

Updated over a week ago

From April 1, 2026, CityBee users in Latvia will need to complete a short reaction test in the app before they can start a trip. New Latvian road-traffic regulations require transport-sharing providers to check a user’s reactivity as part of intoxication-risk control.

This isn’t a CityBee-only decision — these Latvian road-traffic rules apply to all shared mobility / transport-sharing providers.

How it works

It’s a simple “tap / don’t tap” check. A circle appears on the screen — tap as fast as you can when it’s green and don’t tap when it’s red, following the on-screen instructions.

If you can’t distinguish the colors well, use the line patterns as a guide:

  • Horizontal lines = tap

  • Vertical lines = don’t tap

Before starting a trip, you’ll see “Quick safety check” with the instructions:

  • Tap once as fast as you can when the circle is green (don’t hold — just tap).

  • Don’t tap when the circle is red.

  • Tap “Start” and follow the short “Get ready” countdown.

  • During the test, watch the circle and respond as instructed (tap only when prompted).

After the test:

  • If you pass, you’ll be able to unlock the car and start your trip.

  • If you don’t pass, the app will show what to do next — you may be able to retry, or you may be asked to try again later with the next available time displayed.

This test appears before starting a trip (when car is reserved). It doesn’t interrupt an active trip and won’t require re-testing during the trip.
